Old Photos with Notes when available
(Let us know if you have more info)
June 20, 1953: W9PPG Bill Weinhardt (the kid, age 14 -
says he got a ticket at age 12, QRZ says he's still in Bluffton, IN).
W9ASX, Capt Glen Rogers, W9EWO Norman White of Lebanon. The pic is
dated and was taken by Capt. John Weinhardt of the Lafayette Police Dept.
(Note: I did some digging around and found that W9EWO that was in
that original picture that I sent you is now SK. I tracked his callsign
through QRZ, and with his last known address, found in the the Soc. Sec
Death Index. Both the name and address matched, so I'm pretty confident of
the match.)
1st TARA Field Day Jun 21, 1952
No ID on the operator. Photo by Weinhardt (all by the same guy
apparently). Note the op is smoking a pipe, with the tobacco can
(Sir Walter Raleigh) visible atop the transmitter.
June 21, 1952. The first TARA FD. The sign reads "Shh! Novice At Work"
Lower sign has calls for three novices, WN9OLX, WN9PPG, WN9TOR. The names
aren't very clear, but note that WN9PPG is W9PPG in a later photo
Undated. This one may be the club station at Lafayette City Hall
(police station)
The
mafia has arrived in these photos. No IDs and no date.
